Haas Alarm 1007 - Parts Catcher Error

Parts Catcher

This alarm is generated when the parts catcher system fails to respond to extend or retract commands, or when position feedback does not match the commanded state within the timeout period. The MOCON sends output signals to control the pneumatic or hydraulic actuator and monitors limit switch inputs to verify the catcher has reached the commanded position. Machine operation is paused to prevent parts from falling into the chip pan or interfering with subsequent machining operations.

Root Cause Summary

Haas alarm 1007 Parts Catcher fires when the parts catcher mechanism fails to operate properly, typically due to mechanical obstructions, pneumatic system failures, or sensor malfunctions. This alarm prevents automatic part unloading and requires immediate attention to restore automated operation.

Safety

  • Part ejection affected

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Air Pressure Supply

Verify main air pressure is 80-100 PSI at the machine inlet. Check pressure gauge on pneumatic panel.

Ensure machine is in EMERGENCY STOP before checking pneumatic connections.

  2. 2

    Inspect Pneumatic Cylinder

Visually inspect parts catcher cylinder for air leaks, damaged seals, or bent rod. Listen for air leaks during operation.

Spray soapy water on fittings to identify small air leaks.

  3. 3

    Test Manual Operation

Use MDI mode to manually command parts catcher movement with M-codes to isolate cylinder operation from control logic.

Check parameter 310 (Parts Catcher Enable) is set to 1 before testing.

  4. 4

    Replace Pneumatic Components

Replace faulty cylinder, air lines, or solenoid valve if leaks or mechanical damage are found.

Lock out air supply and depressurize system before component replacement.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Pneumatic cylinder replacement required
  • ·Electrical harness damage found
  • ·Multiple sensor failures detected

Prevention

  • Regular cleaning of parts catcher area
  • Monthly air pressure verification
  • Periodic sensor gap inspection
  • Proper chip evacuation maintenance

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring air pressure drops
  • Over-tightening sensor mounting
  • Using wrong M-codes for testing
  • Forgetting EMERGENCY STOP cycle after parameter changes
