Fanuc Alarm 207 - RIGID DATA MISMATCH

RIGID DATA MISMATCH

Fanuc PS207: A data mismatch was detected in the rigid tapping configuration. The rigid tapping parameters do not match the spindle amplifier setup or the commanded conditions.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 207 RIGID DATA MISMATCH occurs when the CNC detects an improper relationship between programmed tapping depth and spindle/feed parameters during rigid tapping cycles (G84/G74). The system calculates expected spindle position based on Z-axis movement and feed rate, and triggers this alarm when the commanded distance is outside acceptable limits for the current spindle speed and pitch combination.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM and check parameter 5210 (maximum rigid tapping depth). Verify programmed Z-depth in G84 block does not exceed this value. Typical range is 0-999999 (0.001mm increments).

  2. 2

Check parameter 5213 (minimum rigid tapping distance). Ensure programmed tapping depth meets or exceeds this minimum value. Default is often 0.1-1.0mm depending on machine configuration.

  3. 3

Verify G84 program syntax: G84 Z-depth R-point Q-peck F-feedrate. Confirm Z-depth is negative value and greater than R-point. Check F-code matches tap pitch multiplied by spindle speed (F = Pitch × RPM).

  4. 4

If parameters are correct, reduce programmed tapping depth incrementally by 10-20% and retest. If alarm clears, adjust parameter 5210 upward or revise program depth specification.

CAUTION: Changing parameter 5210 affects all rigid tapping operations. Coordinate with machine OEM specifications before modification.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Encoder hardware replacement needed
  • ·Parameter limits require mechanical verification
  • ·Spindle drive amplifier issues suspected

Prevention

  • Always verify thread pitch calculations before programming
  • Maintain clean encoder connections
  • Use consistent R-point heights for tapping cycles
  • Regular spindle reference return procedures

Common Mistakes

  • Confusing metric vs imperial thread pitch in feed calculations
  • Setting tap depth parameters too restrictively
  • Forgetting tool length compensation before tapping
  • Using incorrect G-code format for rigid tapping
