Fanuc 171 - Stroke limit check error
Alarm 171 occurs when a programmed move would exceed the software stroke limit (travel limit) defined in machine parameters. This is a protection mechanism preventing the machine from attempting to move beyond its physically safe working envelope. The alarm can be caused by incorrect work coordinate systems, programming errors, or misconfigured parameter settings.
Fanuc 171 - Stroke limit check error
STROKE LIMIT CHECK ERROR
Fanuc PS program alarm 171: STROKE LIMIT CHECK ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary

This is a protection mechanism preventing the machine from attempting to move beyond its physically safe working envelope. The alarm can be caused by incorrect work coordinate systems, programming errors, or misconfigured parameter settings.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Check the current position display and identify which axis triggered the alarm (X, Y, Z, or rotary axis).
Review parameters 1320-1327 to verify the stroke limit values for each axis match the machine's actual physical travel limits.
Check all active work offset values (G54-G59) in the offset settings page to ensure they are correctly set and not pushing the work envelope outside stroke limits.
Incorrect work offsets can cause crashes. Verify all offset values before proceeding.
Modify the part program or adjust the work coordinate system to keep all commanded positions within the parameter-defined stroke limits, then reset and restart.
