Causes and Fixes
Press RESET to clear the alarm. Check the current program number displayed in the foreground (MEM or AUTO mode position display shows Oxxxx active program).
In EDIT mode, verify which program number you are attempting to select or open for background editing. If it matches the foreground active program, select a different program number.
If you must edit the active program, first select a different program in the foreground (press PROG button, search for a different O number using O____ and cursor keys, then press CURSOR DOWN to select it in MEM mode).
Changing the active foreground program may interrupt production operations if not coordinated with machine cycle requirements
Verify parameter 3202#4 (BG_EDT - Background Edit Enable) is set to 1. If set to 0, background editing is disabled and this alarm may occur. Access via SYSTEM > PARAM > [ALL] and search for parameter 3202.
