Fanuc Alarm 095 - P TYPE NOT ALLOWED (EXT OFS CHG)

P TYPE NOT ALLOWED (EXT OFS CHG)

Fanuc PS095: An external workpiece coordinate offset change using P-type command was attempted but is not allowed in the current mode or configuration.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 095 indicates a communication failure between the CNC (NC) and the PMC (Programmable Machine Control). This is typically caused by PMC ladder program errors, corrupted PMC memory, hardware failure on the main board communication bus, or improper PMC configuration parameters.

Safety

  • Machine logic affected

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access PMC diagnostics via SYSTEM > PMC > STATUS screen. Check PMC RUN/STOP status indicator. If PMC shows STOP or ERROR, note any PMC alarm numbers displayed.

  2. 2

Navigate to SYSTEM > PMC > ALARM screen to view PMC-specific error codes. Common errors include P95 (PMC system error), P98 (watchdog), or P99 (sequence program error).

  3. 3

Perform PMC memory clear: Power off CNC, hold DELETE and INPUT keys simultaneously while powering on until PMC CLEAR menu appears. Select LADDER CLEAR or ALL CLEAR, then reload PMC ladder program from backup.

This erases PMC ladder program and parameters. Ensure backup files are available before proceeding.

  4. 4

After reloading PMC ladder, verify PMC parameter settings at SYSTEM > PMC > PARAM > K900. Confirm K900.0 (PMC system keep relay) settings match machine specifications.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·PMC ladder logic modifications required
  • ·Parameter protection settings need adjustment
  • ·External communication system integration issues

Prevention

  • Avoid modifying work offsets during program execution
  • Implement proper PMC timing for offset updates
  • Use program restart from beginning when offsets change

Common Mistakes

  • Attempting P-type restart after manual offset adjustment
  • Not clearing offset change detection flags
  • Ignoring PMC-driven offset modifications
