Fanuc Alarm 042 - G45/G48 NOT ALLOWED IN CRC
Fanuc Alarm 042 occurs when a tool offset command (G45, G46, G47, or G48) is programmed while tool radius compensation (G41/G42) is active. These two compensation modes are mutually exclusive and cannot be executed simultaneously. The alarm is triggered by the CNC control's syntax checker to prevent conflicting offset calculations.

SYSTEM ALARM 42
Fanuc alarm 042: SYSTEM ALARM 42. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.
Root Cause Summary
Fanuc Alarm 042 occurs when a tool offset command (G45, G46, G47, or G48) is programmed while tool radius compensation (G41/G42) is active. These two compensation modes are mutually exclusive and cannot be executed simultaneously. The alarm is triggered by the CNC control's syntax checker to prevent conflicting offset calculations.
Causes and Fixes
Review the NC program at the point of alarm. Check for G45/G46/G47/G48 commands that appear after G41 or G42 without an intervening G40 cancel command.
Insert G40 (cutter compensation cancel) in a safe block before the G45-G48 tool offset command. Ensure G40 is executed in a linear move or as a standalone block depending on part geometry.
Verify that canceling G41/G42 at this point will not cause gouging or incorrect tool path. Review tool path simulation after modification.
If tool offset is necessary, restructure the program sequence: cancel cutter comp with G40, apply tool offset G45-G48, execute required moves, cancel tool offset with G49, then re-apply cutter comp G41/G42 if needed.
Reset alarm using RESET button, rewind program to safe restart point, and execute in single block mode to verify correction before full auto run.
