Siemens 61257 - Block : incomplete setup of counterspindle

Block: incomplete setup of counterspindle

Setup of the counterspindle is incomplete Control reaction: Interpreter stop NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 61257 indicates that the F_SUB_SP cycle initialization failed to complete counterspindle startup procedures on the 840D control. This occurs when axis coupling, spindle parameter configuration, or PLC/NCK handshake signals are not properly established before spindle rotation commands are issued.

Safety

  • Spindle hazard: ensure the spindle is at standstill before working near it; follow lockout/tagout procedures.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access Diagnostics > Machine Data > Spindle Configuration (MD24500 series). Verify MD24510 is set to spindle type (typically 1=DC spindle or 2=AC spindle) and MD24520 specifies the correct output module assignment for counterspindle control.

  2. 2

Check that the counterspindle axis is defined in the channel configuration (MD20050: NumberOfAxes includes the counterspindle) and that axis-specific coupling parameters MD37100 (CfgAxisType) assign it as type 3 (spindle).

  3. 3

Verify in NCK > Axis > [Counterspindle_Axis] that MD32400 (Scaling_factor) and MD32410 (MaxVelocity) are non-zero and realistic for the physical spindle motor.

If coupling parameters are missing, F_SUB_SP will fail to establish axis ready state before issuing spindle enable.

  4. 4

Save machine data changes (Ctrl+S) and perform a warm restart (PLC > System Functions > Warm Start) to reinitialize NCK axis coupling tables.
