Siemens 300705 - Axis drive position controller cycle time invalid

Axis drive position controller cycle time invalid

The monitor in the 611D module has detected a position controller pulse rate which is beyond the permissible limits. The conditions for a permissible position controller pulse rate are: 1. Minimum cycle period: 250µs (810D 312.5µs) 2. Maximum pulse rate: 4 s 3. The position controller pulse rate must be a multiple of the speed controller cycle given in the drive MD 1001: $MD_SPEEDCTRL_CYCLE_TIME Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm occurs when the position controller cycle time for the specified axis and drive is outside permissible limits, typically due to incorrect machine data parameters or hardware configuration issues. Resolution requires careful adjustment of cycle time parameters or hardware troubleshooting.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

SAFETY: Power down and lock out machine

Follow LOTO procedures before accessing machine data or drive parameters.

  2. 2

Check alarm details and machine data

Note axis/drive numbers and check MD32200 for the affected axis. Verify against drive specifications.

  3. 3

    Adjust cycle time with caution

Modify MD32200 only within manufacturer specifications. Incorrect values can cause instability or damage.

  4. 4

    Test at reduced speeds

After changes, test axis movement at low speeds before normal operation.

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Always - machine data changes require qualified technician
  • ·If drive hardware inspection is needed
  • ·If alarm persists after initial checks

Prevention

  • Validate cycle time parameters before running the program
  • Ensure program compatibility with the specific Siemens control version

Common Mistakes

  • Overlooking axis-specific settings in machine data
  • Assuming default cycle times are within limits
