Siemens 300710 - Axis drive position controller cycle times of axes differ

Axis drive position controller cycle times of axes differ

In a 2-axis module, the position controller cycle for the two axes is not the same. This alarm can only occur with OEM users having the 611D drives without the standard NCK interface. This would make it possible to transfer axially different position controller cycles to the 611D module Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm occurs when the position controller cycle times differ between axes in a 2-axis module, often due to incorrect configuration or unsupported settings in OEM setups with 611D drives. Fix by ensuring consistent cycle times or adjusting program parameters.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

SAFETY: Power down and lockout system

Follow LOTO procedures before accessing drive parameters. Ensure all axes are at safe positions and machine is in a safe state.

  2. 2

    Check axis parameters

Review the position controller cycle time settings for both axes in the 611D module configuration using HMI or commissioning software.

  3. 3

    Adjust cycle times

Set identical position controller cycle times for both axes to ensure compatibility. Document original values before changes.

  4. 4

    Test and restart

Clear the alarm, perform controlled test movements at reduced speeds, and verify system stability before resuming normal operation.

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·If cycle time adjustments do not resolve the alarm
  • ·If OEM-specific configurations are unclear or inaccessible
  • ·If you are not trained in Siemens drive configuration
  • ·If machine behavior becomes unpredictable after parameter changes

Prevention

  • Validate axis parameters before running programs
  • Ensure compatibility with drive interface specifications
  • Maintain documented parameter backups
  • Follow proper commissioning procedures for multi-axis systems

Common Mistakes

  • Overlooking axis-specific cycle time settings
  • Assuming standard interface in OEM setups
