Siemens 14610 - Block compensation block not possible

Block compensation block not possible

An alarm was output which could be eliminated basically via program correction. Since the error occurred in a program which is processed from external, a compensation block/program correction is not possible Control reaction: Interpreter stop NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display.

Root Cause Summary

SINUMERIK alarm 14610 occurs when the NCK's cycle parameter validation routine detects invalid or conflicting parameters in canned cycles (CYCLE81-89) or ShopMill/ShopTurn cycles before execution begins. The alarm prevents machine movement by catching parameter range violations, geometric conflicts, or logical inconsistencies in the cycle definition.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check drilling cycle parameters in program

Navigate to Program Manager → Edit Mode and examine CYCLE8X parameters. Verify RTP (retraction plane) > Z (final depth) for absolute programming, or DEPTH > 0 for incremental.

Use SINUMERIK's cycle support screen (Softkey 'Cycle Support') to visualize parameter relationships graphically

  2. 2

    Validate peck drilling parameters

For CYCLE83 (deep hole drilling), ensure FDEP (first peck depth) and DEP (peck increment) are smaller than total DEPTH. Check FDPR (peck reduction) is between 0-1.

Negative depth values will cause immediate alarm - always use positive incremental depths

  3. 3

    Verify safety plane clearances

Confirm safety plane RP is positioned above retraction plane RTP by at least 1mm. Access via Program → Cycle Parameters → Drilling Cycles.

Set machine data MD20734 (cycle monitoring) to 1 for enhanced parameter validation feedback

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Machine data modifications required
  • ·Spindle encoder calibration needed
  • ·Persistent alarms after parameter correction

Prevention

  • Enable cycle parameter preview before execution
  • Use ShopMill/ShopTurn graphical programming to avoid parameter conflicts
  • Validate tool data in tool management before cycle programming
  • Set up cycle templates with proven parameter ranges

Common Mistakes

  • Mixing absolute and incremental depth programming
  • Ignoring tool diameter in pocket calculations
  • Programming feedrates without checking machine limits
  • Using incorrect retraction plane relationships
