Siemens 840D 14038 - Channel block involute not definable: end point error

Channel block involute not definable: end point error

The programmed end point does not lie on the involute defined by the start point, radius and center point of the basic circle. The deviation of the effective end radius from the programmed value is greater than the permissible value specified in MD INVOLUTE_RADIUS_DELTA.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Programmed end point coordinates do not mathematically correspond to the involute geometry defined by start point, radius, and center point
  • Accumulated machining tolerance or tool wear causing actual end radius to deviate beyond MD INVOLUTE_RADIUS_DELTA tolerance
  • Incorrect center point or basic circle radius values in the involute block definition
  • Rounding errors or insufficient decimal precision in coordinate programming
  • Machine axis calibration drift causing positional inaccuracy relative to involute calculation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the NC block containing the involute definition and verify start point, end point, radius, and center point coordinates are mathematically consistent using involute geometry equations
  2. 2Check the current value of MD INVOLUTE_RADIUS_DELTA in machine data and compare against the actual deviation; adjust tolerance if appropriate for application requirements
  3. 3Verify tool geometry and inspect for wear; replace tool if radius exceeds acceptable limits and re-run the block
  4. 4Perform axis calibration check and backlash compensation verification on affected axes to ensure positional accuracy
  5. 5Recalculate and reprogram the involute block with higher decimal precision or adjust end point coordinates to fall within the involute curve defined by the geometry parameters
