Siemens 840D 14036 - Channel block involute: end point invalid

Channel block involute: end point invalid

With involute interpolation, the end point of the involute must be outside the basic circle. The programmed center point / radius or end point must be adapted accordingly.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • End point of involute is located on or inside the basic circle instead of outside it
  • Incorrectly calculated or programmed involute radius relative to the basic circle
  • Center point coordinates do not properly define the involute geometry
  • Programming error where involute parameters were copied from previous operation with different geometry

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify involute end point coordinates are mathematically outside the basic circle by calculating distance from center point
  2. 2Check involute radius specification and confirm it is greater than the basic circle radius
  3. 3Review NC program block for correct center point coordinates and involute parameters
  4. 4Use machine diagnostic or CAM software to visualize involute path and confirm end point location relative to basic circle
  5. 5Edit program with corrected end point coordinates and verify involute geometry before resuming cycle
