Siemens 840D 10934 - Channel block array for contour segmentation is set too small

Channel block array for contour segmentation is set too small

During contour segmentation (activated with the keyword CONTPRON), the field for the contour table has been detected as too small. For every permissible contour element (circle or straight line) there must be a row in the contour table.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • CONTPRON contour table dimensioned smaller than the number of contour segments in the programmed path
  • Complex contour geometry with multiple circles and lines exceeding allocated array size
  • Incorrect DECLARE statement for contour array dimensions during program setup
  • Contour program modification that increased segment count without resizing the table allocation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the active NC program and count the total number of contour elements (circles and straight lines) in the CONTPRON section
  2. 2Locate the contour table declaration and verify the array dimension is greater than or equal to the total segment count
  3. 3Increase the contour table array size in the DECLARE statement to accommodate all contour segments plus 10-20% safety margin
  4. 4Verify CONTPRON syntax and ensure all geometric elements are properly defined before the contour segmentation call
  5. 5Reload the corrected program and execute a dry run to confirm the alarm no longer occurs
