Siemens 840D 10931 - Channel block incorrect stock removal contour

Channel block incorrect stock removal contour

The following errors occurred in the subroutine for the contour during stock removal: - Full circle - Overlapping contour elements - Wrong start position

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Contour definition includes a complete 360-degree circle which is not permitted in stock removal cycles
  • Overlapping or intersecting contour line segments creating ambiguous removal geometry
  • Tool start position is not on the contour perimeter as required by the stock removal algorithm
  • Contour subroutine contains closed loops that conflict with stock removal path generation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the contour subroutine referenced in block %2 and verify no full circles (360° arcs) are present; replace with two 180° arcs if needed
  2. 2Check contour elements for overlaps or self-intersecting geometry using the part program listing and CAM post-processor output
  3. 3Verify tool positioning statement before the stock removal call starts exactly on the defined contour line, not inside or outside the profile
  4. 4Confirm contour geometry is continuous and non-intersecting by manually stepping through the subroutine with MDI or graphical verification
  5. 5Regenerate the contour subroutine in the CAM system with stock removal-compatible geometry rules and re-post the part program
