Okuma OSP Alarm A 1179 - MCS CON speed over

MCS CON speed over

The positioning command increments (SRCOND) sent from the NC to the inverter unit exceeded the allowable limit for the axis or spindle named in the object field. If this occurs on a positioning axis, the servo data file contains wrong data because the inverter calculates those increments itself.

Common Causes

  • Servo data file contains wrong data for the axis
  • NC software generating excessive command increments
  • Position command exceeding the encoder measuring range on a linear axis

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Increments so large they were judged erroneous in preliminary check; code 2 = Position command exceeds the absolute encoder measuring range (linear axis only); code other = Absolute value of acceleration/deceleration increments in (pr/65536)/Tp
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the increments were so large they were rejected in the preliminary check, 2 means the position command exceeded the absolute encoder measuring range (linear axis only); any other value is the absolute increment size in (pr/65536)/Tp units.
  3. 3Note which axis is named in the object field and whether the alarm occurs at power-up, during jog, or at a specific program block.
  4. 4For a positioning axis, suspect the servo data file first as the manual directs; compare it against the correct file for this machine and reload if mismatched.
  5. 5For code 2 on a linear axis, check the commanded position in the program against the axis travel range and correct the program.
  6. 6If the data file and program are correct, the NC software itself is suspect; record the alarm details and contact Okuma service.
