Okuma OSP Alarm A 1177 - MCS Servo data error

MCS Servo data error

Servo data sent from the NC during initialization or operation is not valid for the inverter unit fitted. This typically follows an inverter unit change with an incompatible servo data file, or an incorrect edit of servo data.

Common Causes

  • Servo data file not compatible with the fitted inverter unit
  • Inverter unit not compatible with the installed NC software version
  • Servo data wrongly edited during adjustment
  • Faulty inverter unit control board or NC software issue

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXX = Data ID number of the servo data that caused the error.; code YY = Data set number of the servo data that caused the error.; code ZZ=1 = Data value out of its setting range.; code ZZ=2 = Data set with wrong timing.; code ZZ=3 = Data not transmitted.; code ZZ=4 = Calculation error in the data.; code ZZ=5 = Other data error.
  2. 2Read the code: XXXX gives the data ID and YY the data set number of the offending data; ZZ tells the error type (1 out of range, 2 wrong timing, 3 no transmission, 4 calculation error, 5 others).
  3. 3If the alarm started after the inverter unit was replaced, load the servo data file that matches the new inverter unit.
  4. 4If it started after servo data was adjusted or changed, restore the previous (backup) servo data and confirm the alarm clears.
  5. 5If the inverter and data file are correct, check that the NC software version is compatible with the inverter unit fitted.
  6. 6If none of the above clears it, the inverter unit control board is suspect; record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
