Okuma OSP Alarm A 1175 - MCS Servo link disconnection

MCS Servo link disconnection

The servo link between the NC and the inverter unit has dropped, so the named axis or spindle can no longer receive commands. The code identifies where along the link the break was detected and the link error status at the time.

Common Causes

  • Loose, damaged or unplugged servo link cable or connector
  • Failed inverter unit control board
  • Faulty FCP board in the NC

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXX=0 = Link disconnected right in front of the problem unit.; code XXXX=8000 = Link disconnected before the problem unit.; code YYYY = Servo link error status at the moment the error was detected.
  2. 2Read the code: if XXXX=0 the link broke immediately in front of the problem unit; if XXXX=8000 the break occurred before that unit, so work upstream along the link chain.
  3. 3With power off and locked out, inspect and reseat the servo link cables and connectors at the named unit and at the unit before it in the chain; look for bent pins, oil contamination or chafed cable.
  4. 4Check the link cable routing for damage from moving covers or swarf and repair or replace the cable if faulty.
  5. 5If cables and connectors are good, suspect the inverter unit control board of the unit at the disconnection point; swap or replace per service procedure.
  6. 6If the fault persists after the above, the FCP board is the remaining suspect; record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
