Okuma OSP Alarm P 0899 - MCS Axis stop signal error

MCS Axis stop signal error

The OSP detected a malfunction of the PSRDY (axis stop/ready) signal input to the MIV drive unit for the indicated axis or spindle. The drive's stop/ready chain is not reading correctly, so the axis cannot be trusted to run.

Common Causes

  • Defective stroke end limit switch or damaged limit switch signal line
  • Damaged OPR line to the power supply unit or poor connector contact on it
  • Damaged converter link cable of the MIV unit or poor connector contact
  • Faulty FUB-DR3 board or POS unit

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = PSRDY signal input to the MIV unit malfunctioned
  2. 2Note the axis name in [Object]; code 1 applies. Lock out power and observe drive discharge precautions before opening the electrical cabinet.
  3. 3Check the stroke end limit switches for that axis: actuate each switch and confirm its signal changes state; inspect the switch wiring for damage or shorts.
  4. 4Inspect the OPR line connected to the power supply unit and its connectors for damage or poor contact; reseat and secure them.
  5. 5Check the MIV unit converter link cable and connectors for damage or looseness; reseat or replace the cable.
  6. 6If all wiring and switches are good, suspect the FUB-DR3 board or POS unit; have it tested/replaced.
  7. 7If the alarm returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
