KRC0646

KUKA Robot KRC0646 - No axis selected

No axis selected

This alarm occurs when attempting to execute a tacho balance operation without first selecting a specific axis in the KRC4 controller. Tacho balance requires an active axis selection to properly calibrate the tachometer feedback on that axis.

Common Causes

  • No axis selected in the teach pendant before initiating tacho balance command
  • Axis selection was deselected or cleared before tacho balance operation started
  • Incorrect sequence of operations in the maintenance or calibration procedure
  • KUKA smartPAD interface not responding to axis selection input
  • Corrupted axis configuration preventing proper axis selection state

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify all axes are powered and ready using the KRC4 status display on the KUKA smartPAD
  2. 2Explicitly select the target axis using the pendant axis selection buttons before tacho balance
  3. 3Check that the selected axis is highlighted and confirmed in the teach pendant display
  4. 4Review the tacho balance procedure in the KUKA system documentation to ensure correct operation sequence
  5. 5Reset the KRC4 controller and attempt axis selection again if selection state appears stuck
  6. 6Contact KUKA service if axis selection functionality remains unresponsive after controller reset
