KUKA Robot KRC0652 - Error reading TRACE.DEF

Error reading TRACE.DEF

This alarm occurs when the KRC4 controller attempts to read the TRACE.DEF file at the start of trace recording but cannot access or open the file. This typically happens during system startup or when trace recording is initiated.

Common Causes

  • TRACE.DEF file is missing or has been deleted from the KRC4 file system
  • File path to TRACE.DEF is incorrect or the file is stored in an unexpected directory location
  • File system permissions prevent the KRC4 process from reading the TRACE.DEF file
  • File is corrupted or locked by another process during the read attempt
  • KRC4 system was updated or re-imaged without preserving the TRACE.DEF configuration file

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify that the TRACE.DEF file exists in the correct KRC4 directory using the system file browser
  2. 2Check the file system permissions to ensure the KRC4 user account has read access to TRACE.DEF
  3. 3Confirm the file is not locked or being accessed by another process on the controller
  4. 4Restore TRACE.DEF from a system backup if the file has been corrupted or accidentally deleted
  5. 5Transfer a known working TRACE.DEF file from WorkVisual to the KRC4 using the deployment tools
  6. 6Restart trace recording functionality after confirming file presence and proper permissions
