KUKA Robot KRC0583 - Reduced velocity during sensor location search

Reduced velocity during sensor location search

The velocity specified in the $RED_JUS_UEB parameter for sensor location search exceeds the maximum speed at which the pressure or position sensor can reliably detect the target location. The KRC4 controller has automatically reduced the velocity to ensure accurate sensor detection.

Common Causes

  • User-defined velocity in $RED_JUS_UEB parameter set higher than the sensor manufacturer maximum detection speed
  • Sensor response time too slow for the programmed teach speed during automatic sensor location calibration
  • Sensor cable or connector intermittently failing at higher current draw speeds, causing detection threshold issues
  • Pressure or proximity sensor hardware degradation reducing its ability to respond to rapid position changes
  • Incorrect sensor type selected in the WorkVisual configuration resulting in mismatched speed parameters

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the pressure or position sensor technical specifications to identify the maximum recommended detection velocity
  2. 2Open the KRL program and reduce the $RED_JUS_UEB variable to a value 20-30 percent below the sensor maximum specification
  3. 3Use the KUKA smartPAD to manually trigger the sensor location search at the new reduced velocity and verify successful detection
  4. 4Monitor the analog signal strength on the KRC4 control panel during the reduced velocity search to confirm stable signal above threshold
  5. 5Perform a full sensor calibration cycle in WorkVisual using the adjusted velocity parameter to re-establish baseline detection values
  6. 6Test the robot in normal operation mode at production speeds to confirm the sensor location search executes reliably without further velocity reduction warnings
