KRC0573

KUKA Robot KRC0573 - Volume actual value cable failure

Volume actual value cable failure

The volume sensor analog input cable has failed or disconnected, resulting in a signal loss below the critical 4mA threshold required for proper volume measurement. This alarm prevents accurate volume feedback during robotic operations that depend on volume sensing data.

Common Causes

  • Volume sensor cable severed or severely abraded by contact with sharp tool holders or fixture edges
  • Loose or partially disconnected sensor cable connector at the KRC4 analog input module
  • Corrosion or contamination on the volume sensor connector pins from exposure to coolant spray or condensation
  • Faulty volume sensor that has failed and no longer generates the required 4-20mA analog signal
  • Improper cable shielding or grounding allowing electromagnetic interference to degrade the sensor signal below 4mA

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop all robot motion via the KUKA smartPAD emergency stop and document the alarm occurrence time for pattern analysis
  2. 2Inspect the volume sensor cable path along the robot arm and control cabinet for cuts, abrasions, or kinks that could interrupt signal flow
  3. 3Measure the actual analog voltage at the KRC4 input terminal using a calibrated multimeter while the sensor is powered
  4. 4Disconnect the volume sensor connector and verify correct cable pinout against the sensor wiring diagram in the technical documentation
  5. 5Test the volume sensor independently by applying known excitation voltage and verifying the 4-20mA output signal with a precision meter
  6. 6If the sensor output is defective, replace the volume sensor unit and recalibrate it in WorkVisual; if the cable is faulty, replace with an identical shielded sensor cable
