KRC0572

KUKA Robot KRC0572 - Pressure sensor cable failure

Pressure sensor cable failure

The pressure sensor cable has experienced signal loss or connection degradation, causing the analog input current to fall below the required 4mA threshold. This typically indicates a wiring fault in the sensor circuit that prevents proper pressure monitoring during robot operation.

Common Causes

  • Damaged or kinked pressure sensor cable in the robot arm or control cabinet
  • Loose connector pins at the KRC4 control module analog input terminals
  • Corroded or oxidized sensor cable connectors exposed to coolant or humidity
  • Broken internal wire strands within the shielded sensor cable due to mechanical stress
  • Incorrect sensor cable routing causing pinching against sharp edges or moving robot joints

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Visually inspect the entire pressure sensor cable path from sensor to control cabinet for visible damage or sharp bends
  2. 2Power down the robot using the KUKA smartPAD and verify the alarm clears after restart to rule out transient faults
  3. 3Use a multimeter in continuity mode to test the sensor cable conductors and verify resistance readings match the sensor specification
  4. 4Disconnect and reconnect all sensor cable connectors at both the pressure sensor and the KRC4 analog input module, ensuring firm seating
  5. 5Replace the pressure sensor cable with a new shielded cable of identical specifications if continuity tests fail or resistance is abnormal
  6. 6Recalibrate the pressure sensor in WorkVisual after cable replacement and verify the analog input signal reads above 4mA under load
