KUKA Robot KRC0462 - Access to component not allowed

Access to component not allowed

An attempt was made to access a sub-component or field of a protected program or motion trace object that is not permitted at the current access level. This security mechanism prevents unauthorized modification or inspection of internal system structures and program internals.

Common Causes

  • Attempting to access internal fields of $PRO_TRACE or $MOTION_TRACE arrays without proper safeguard credentials
  • Trying to read or modify protected structure members marked as private or system-reserved in the KRC4 runtime
  • Using SHOW VAR with nested indexing on restricted program execution state variables
  • Accessing motion trace elements with array indices that reference protected synchronization data
  • Illegal component access during active program execution when the system is in a protected operational mode

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify that the operator has appropriate access rights and expert or maintenance mode is properly enabled on the smartPAD
  2. 2Simplify the variable access query to use only permitted top-level fields without deep nesting into protected sub-components
  3. 3Consult the KRL language reference to confirm which trace and program structure members are accessible at your privilege level
  4. 4Use WorkVisual or the Program Editor to examine the variable definitions and identify which fields are marked as read-only or restricted
  5. 5If debugging is required, enable the KUKA diagnostic trace or use external logging instead of direct motion trace inspection
  6. 6Contact KUKA service to escalate access permissions if legitimate diagnostic access to protected fields is required for troubleshooting
