KRC0403

KUKA Robot KRC0403 - SOURCE AND TARGET OBJECT ARE IDENTICAL

SOURCE AND TARGET OBJECT ARE IDENTICAL

This alarm occurs when a copy, move, or data transfer operation in the KRC controller specifies identical source and target object references, making the operation logically redundant. The controller detects this condition during program execution or file system operations and halts the instruction to prevent unnecessary resource allocation and potential data corruption.

Common Causes

  • Variable or pointer used for both source and target parameters in a COPY or MOVE instruction
  • Incorrect variable assignment where source and target references point to the same memory address or file
  • Copy operation attempting to duplicate a file or object to its own location without path modification
  • Programming error where the same object handle or index is passed to both input and output parameters
  • Corrupted variable state or uninitialized pointer causing both parameters to reference the same default object

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the program code at the line number indicated in the alarm message to identify source and target parameters in the failing instruction
  2. 2Verify that source and target variables, file paths, or object references are distinct and not pointing to the same memory location or file
  3. 3Check variable declarations and assignments to ensure they are properly initialized with different values for source and target operations
  4. 4Use the KUKA WorkVisual or teach pendant diagnostics to inspect variable contents and confirm object references differ
  5. 5Modify the program logic to ensure unique source and target specifications, potentially renaming variables or adjusting file paths as needed
  6. 6Reset the controller, reload the modified program, and execute the instruction again to confirm the alarm is resolved
