KRC0326

KUKA Robot KRC0326 - ACKN. ENCODER CABLE FAILURE <axis number>

ACKN. ENCODER CABLE FAILURE <axis number>

The encoder feedback cable for the specified robot axis has experienced an electrical failure or disconnection during system operation. This secondary acknowledgment alarm confirms detection of the primary ENCODER CABLE FAILURE and indicates that the axis encoder communication path requires immediate inspection and repair.

Common Causes

  • Encoder cable physically disconnected or partially pulled from connector on axis joint
  • Encoder cable insulation damaged by abrasion, pinching, or environmental exposure
  • Connector corrosion or oxidation on encoder plug preventing proper electrical contact
  • Cable shielding compromised resulting in electromagnetic interference and signal loss
  • Broken internal conductors within the encoder cable from repeated flexing or mechanical stress

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop all robot motion immediately and secure the arm in a safe position to prevent injury
  2. 2Power off the controller and visually inspect the encoder cable along its entire routing path
  3. 3Check that the encoder connector is fully seated and locked at both the axis joint and drive module
  4. 4Clean connector pins with appropriate electrical contact cleaner and allow to dry completely
  5. 5Gently flex and manipulate the encoder cable near connectors while monitoring for intermittent connection
  6. 6Replace the encoder cable assembly if damage is visible or connection issues persist after inspection
