KRC0308

KUKA Robot KRC0308 - AXIS COUPLING NOT POSSIBLE (DSE/PMCHANNEL ASSIGNMENT)

AXIS COUPLING NOT POSSIBLE (DSE/PMCHANNEL ASSIGNMENT)

This alarm indicates that the robot controller cannot establish axis coupling due to a mismatch or conflict in the DSE (Digital Servo Electronics) to PMCHANNEL (Power Module Channel) assignment configuration. The system failed to properly map the physical axis hardware channels to their corresponding power module outputs, preventing synchronized multi-axis motion.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect DSE module slot assignment in the hardware configuration file
  • Mismatch between physical PMCHANNEL wiring and software axis mapping in robot.ini or system configuration
  • Corrupted or missing axis coupling parameters in the controller's system data
  • PMCHANNEL resource already assigned to another axis or interface in the configuration
  • Faulty or improperly seated DSE module in the KRC control cabinet

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the physical DSE module slot position and confirm it matches the slot number defined in the controller configuration files
  2. 2Cross-reference the PMCHANNEL assignments in robot.ini with actual hardware wiring to ensure correct power module channel correspondence
  3. 3Check the axis coupling configuration in the system data to ensure no duplicate PMCHANNEL assignments exist across multiple axes
  4. 4Access the KRC engineering environment and validate the DSE module detection and recognition in the hardware diagnostics
  5. 5Power cycle the entire KRC controller and allow 30-60 seconds for full system boot and hardware detection before restarting robot operation
  6. 6If the alarm persists, backup the current configuration, restore factory default axis coupling settings, and reconfigure axis assignments incrementally while testing after each change
