KUKA Robot KRC0305 - TRACE: RECORDING TIME IS TOO LONG

TRACE: RECORDING TIME IS TOO LONG

The TRACE recording duration specified in TRACE.DEF exceeds available system memory on the KRC4 controller. This prevents the trace buffer from being allocated, blocking diagnostic data collection and requiring adjustment of recording parameters or memory management.

Common Causes

  • TRACE.DEF configured with excessive recording duration exceeding available RAM
  • Multiple concurrent trace sessions consuming controller memory simultaneously
  • Insufficient free memory due to large program files or background processes
  • Trace buffer size set too large relative to available flash storage
  • System memory fragmentation from repeated trace start/stop cycles

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check TRACE.DEF configuration file located in the KRC system directory and review the recording time parameter
  2. 2Reduce the recording duration value in TRACE.DEF to a lower timeframe such as 60 seconds or less
  3. 3Verify available system memory by checking Memory Usage in the Diagnostic menu on the KUKA smartPAD
  4. 4Close unnecessary applications and background processes running on the KRC4 controller
  5. 5Clear old trace files from the controller storage using WorkVisual or file management tools
  6. 6Restart the controller and reattempt trace recording with reduced parameters
