KUKA Robot KRC0242 - MAXIMUM KINETIC ENERGY

MAXIMUM KINETIC ENERGY

The robot has exceeded the maximum permissible kinetic energy threshold defined in the dynamic data parameters. This safety alarm prevents collision damage by monitoring the accumulated energy of the robot system during motion and halting execution when energy limits are breached.

Common Causes

  • Dynamic data $DYN_DAT() values set too low for the programmed motion profile
  • Rapid acceleration commands causing energy accumulation beyond safety thresholds
  • Heavy external payload not properly declared in the robot configuration
  • Cartesian motion through complex geometry generating excessive joint velocities
  • Machine data kinetic energy limits ($ENERGY_LIM or equivalent) misconfigured

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the current kinetic energy limit in machine data using KUKA smartPAD diagnostic menu
  2. 2Review the $DYN_DAT() parameters in the active program and compare against WorkVisual configuration
  3. 3Verify that the actual robot payload matches the declared mass in the kinematic data
  4. 4Reduce motion acceleration and velocity parameters in the program to decrease energy generation
  5. 5Recalculate dynamic data in WorkVisual based on the actual application requirements and safety margins
  6. 6Contact KUKA service if limit adjustment is required and update machine data with validated parameters
