KUKA Robot KRC0220 - PROFIBUS: ERROR IN SLAVE CIRCUIT

PROFIBUS: ERROR IN SLAVE CIRCUIT

This alarm indicates a communication error detected in a PROFIBUS slave device connected to the KUKA KRC controller. The slave circuit has failed to respond correctly to polling commands or has transmitted invalid data on the PROFIBUS network. This typically prevents normal operation of the affected slave module until the communication link is restored.

Common Causes

  • Damaged or loose PROFIBUS connector on the slave device or cable
  • PROFIBUS cable shielding compromised or cable routed near high-voltage power lines causing interference
  • Slave device power supply failure or insufficient power to the slave module
  • Incorrect PROFIBUS slave address configuration or duplicate slave addresses on the network
  • Corrupted slave device firmware or incompatible PROFIBUS protocol version

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify all PROFIBUS connector connections are seated firmly on both the controller and slave devices, and inspect connectors for bent pins or corrosion
  2. 2Check the PROFIBUS cable integrity by visually inspecting for cuts, pinches, or damage to the shielding and replacing the cable if necessary
  3. 3Measure the power supply voltage at the slave device to confirm it is receiving adequate power within specifications
  4. 4Access the KUKA teach pendant and verify the slave device address configuration in the PROFIBUS network settings matches the physical device address
  5. 5Cycle power to both the KRC controller and the affected PROFIBUS slave device after allowing 30 seconds for complete power discharge
  6. 6If the alarm persists, consult the slave device documentation to verify firmware compatibility with the KRC controller and update if necessary, or contact KUKA technical support for advanced diagnostics
