KUKA Robot KRC0227 - BCO MOTION: PRESS START PLUS

BCO MOTION: PRESS START PLUS

This alarm indicates that a BCO (Basic Coordinate) motion command was attempted using the START MINUS button or negative motion direction when the system requires START PLUS (positive direction) to be used. BCO motion in the KRC controller requires explicit directional input, and this alarm prevents unintended motion in the wrong direction during basic coordinate operations.

Common Causes

  • Operator pressed START MINUS button during active BCO motion program
  • Incorrect program logic using negative direction flags for BCO commands
  • Teach pendant directional button pressed opposite to programmed motion direction
  • Inverted axis direction configuration in the robot's kinematic parameters
  • Software or KCP (KUKA Control Panel) mapping error with start button functions

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop the current program execution and verify the intended motion direction in the BCO program code
  2. 2Check the teach pendant START PLUS and START MINUS button assignments to ensure correct mapping
  3. 3Review the BCO motion command syntax in the robot program - confirm positive direction flags are set correctly
  4. 4Verify axis direction configuration in the robot parameters (Machine Data) is correct for the application
  5. 5Test BCO motion using only the START PLUS button to confirm directional control and motion behavior
  6. 6If issue persists, reset the KRC controller parameters to default and reconfigure axis directions according to KUKA specifications
