KUKA Robot KRC0233 - Ackn.: over temperature fan

Ackn.: over temperature fan

This alarm indicates that one of the two cooling fans in the KUKA KRC control cabinet has failed or is not operating at sufficient capacity, causing internal cabinet temperature to exceed safe operating limits. The controller acknowledges this over-temperature condition and triggers this alarm to prevent thermal damage to internal components such as power electronics, servo drives, and the main processor board.

Common Causes

  • Fan motor bearing failure or mechanical jamming
  • Fan blade obstruction or debris accumulation
  • Loose or disconnected fan power connector
  • Fan control circuit failure on the power supply board
  • Dust and dirt buildup restricting airflow through cabinet vents

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the robot controller immediately and allow the cabinet to cool for 30 minutes before inspection
  2. 2Visually inspect both cabinet fans for physical damage, debris, or blade obstruction and clean air intake/exhaust vents
  3. 3Verify both fan power connectors are firmly seated on the power supply board and check for corrosion or damage
  4. 4Manually rotate each fan blade by hand (with power off) to check for smooth operation and identify seized bearings
  5. 5Use a multimeter to test fan motor continuity and voltage at the connector during controller operation
  6. 6If one fan is confirmed defective, replace the entire fan assembly with a genuine KUKA replacement part and verify temperature normalization after restart
