KRC0235

KUKA Robot KRC0235 - Mainboard temperature reached warning level

Mainboard temperature reached warning level

The main processor board (CPU) temperature has exceeded the warning threshold but remains within safe operating limits on the KUKA KRC controller. This is a preventive alert indicating that thermal management is degrading and critical temperature levels may be reached if cooling conditions do not improve. Continued operation without remediation may result in thermal throttling or emergency shutdown.

Common Causes

  • Blocked or restricted cooling fan intake/exhaust vents
  • Dust accumulation on heatsinks and internal cooling passages
  • Degraded or failing cooling fan performance
  • Ambient room temperature exceeding specifications (>40°C typical)
  • Prolonged high-load operation or continuous rapid movements without adequate cool-down periods

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Immediately reduce robot workload and cycle time to allow thermal recovery
  2. 2Inspect and clean all external cooling fan vents and intake grilles on the KRC control cabinet
  3. 3Verify cooling fan operation by listening for normal fan noise and checking for proper airflow
  4. 4Check ambient room temperature and ensure it is within controller specifications (typically 5-40°C)
  5. 5Power down the controller for 15-30 minutes to allow passive cooling, then restart and monitor temperature recovery
  6. 6Contact KUKA service if alarm recurs after cleaning and ambient conditions are normal, as internal heatsink cleaning or fan replacement may be required
