KUKA Robot KRC0207 - Operator Safety Gate Open

Operator Safety Gate Open

The safety circuit has detected that an operator safety gate or perimeter guarding interlock switch is in the open state, indicating the protective enclosure is not secured. This prevents automatic mode operation to protect personnel from entering the robot work envelope during automatic cycles. The robot can typically still operate in T1 or T2 manual mode depending on safety configuration.

Common Causes

  • Physical safety gate door or panel is open or not fully closed and latched into interlock switch position
  • Safety gate interlock switch is misaligned, damaged, or requires adjustment to properly engage with door striker plate
  • Wiring fault or disconnection between safety gate switch and safety relay module or X11 input on controller
  • Safety relay module has detected discrepancy between redundant safety gate switch contacts and has opened safety output
  • Incorrect safety configuration in Safety.SPF file or WorkVisual project where gate input is improperly mapped or requires reset

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Step 1: Physically inspect all perimeter safety gates and access doors to verify they are fully closed and latched mechanisms are engaged
  2. 2Step 2: Check safety gate interlock switch alignment by observing switch actuator engagement when door closes and adjust mounting if gap is incorrect
  3. 3Step 3: View safety input status on smartPAD under Configure > Safety Configuration (if authorized) or Display > Inputs/Outputs > Safety Inputs to identify which gate input is open
  4. 4Step 4: Measure continuity of safety gate switch contacts with door closed using multimeter and verify redundant contacts both close properly (typically dual channel)
  5. 5Step 5: Verify 24VDC supply voltage is present at safety gate switch inputs and check wiring continuity from switch back to safety relay module in cabinet
  6. 6Step 6: Review safety relay module LED status indicators for fault codes, perform safety relay reset procedure per manufacturer instructions, or verify safety configuration in WorkVisual matches physical installation
