KUKA Robot KRC0206 - LOCAL EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON PRESSED

LOCAL EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON PRESSED

The LOCAL EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON PRESSED alarm indicates that the emergency stop (E-stop) button on the local control pendant or teach pendant has been activated. This is a safety interlock that immediately halts all robot motion and axis movement. The alarm clears once the E-stop button is released and the system is reset through the KRC controller interface.

Common Causes

  • Operator intentionally pressed the E-stop button on the teach pendant during manual operation or programming
  • Accidental contact or pressure applied to the E-stop button during handling or movement of the pendant
  • E-stop button stuck in the pressed position due to mechanical damage or debris
  • Faulty E-stop button contact switch creating a false trigger signal to the KRC controller
  • Pendant cable connection issue causing intermittent E-stop signal activation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Visually inspect the E-stop button on the teach pendant for physical damage, obstruction, or debris preventing full release
  2. 2Rotate the E-stop button clockwise to release/unlock it from the pressed position, then verify it springs back to the released state
  3. 3Check the teach pendant cable connection at both the pendant connector and the KRC controller port for loose or corroded contacts
  4. 4Acknowledge the alarm in the KRC controller by pressing the reset button or selecting the acknowledge function in the diagnostics menu
  5. 5Test the E-stop functionality by pressing and releasing the button multiple times to confirm proper mechanical operation and electrical reset
  6. 6If the alarm persists after release, perform a controller warm restart and inspect the pendant for internal switch failure; contact KUKA service if the button remains defective
