KUKA Robot KRC0060 - DN CH ... HARDWARE ERROR

DN CH ... HARDWARE ERROR

DN CH (Drive Number Channel) Hardware Error indicates a communication or hardware failure between the KRC controller and a specific drive axis hardware component, typically the servo drive or motor controller. This alarm occurs when the controller detects a malfunction in the axis hardware interface, such as encoder errors, drive initialization failures, or loss of signal integrity on the drive communication bus.

Common Causes

  • Faulty servo drive or motor controller module
  • Loose or corroded connectors on drive communication cables
  • Encoder signal loss or encoder hardware failure
  • Defective axis motor or winding short circuit
  • Corrupted drive firmware or failed drive initialization sequence

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Note which axis/channel number is specified in the full alarm message (DN CH X) to identify the affected drive
  2. 2Power cycle the KRC controller completely by switching off the main power supply for 30 seconds, then restart
  3. 3Inspect all connectors and cables associated with the affected axis drive for loose connections, corrosion, or physical damage
  4. 4Check the drive module LED indicators and consult drive-specific diagnostics through the KRC teach pendant or KUKA.Sim interface
  5. 5Verify encoder cable continuity and signal quality using diagnostic tools; reseat encoder connectors if accessible
  6. 6If error persists after power cycle and cable inspection, backup system configuration and update drive firmware, or replace the faulty servo drive module
