Heidenhain 2A0-0007 - LSV2: Transmission error

LSV2: Transmission error

LSV2 (Leitstand-Verbindung 2) Transmission Error occurs when the Heidenhain control detects a communication failure over the LSV2 protocol interface. This alarm typically appears during data transfer operations between the TNC control and external devices such as PCs running TNCremo, network file transfers, or remote desktop applications attempting LSV2 communication.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm indicates the LSV2 protocol communication layer has failed to complete a data transmission between the TNC control and an external LSV2 client device. The failure occurs when expected acknowledgment packets are not received within the protocol timeout period, or when the physical/logical network path is interrupted during active LSV2 communication.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Inspect Ethernet Cable Connection

Check the Ethernet cable connected to the X116 (TNC 320/530) or X26 (TNC 620/640) interface on the control. Verify both ends are firmly seated and link LEDs are illuminated on network hardware.

Use Category 5e or better shielded cables for LSV2 connections in industrial environments to prevent EMI interference.

  2. 2

    Test Cable Continuity

Replace the Ethernet cable with a known-good cable. Test with a cable tester if available to verify all 8 conductors have continuity and proper pinout (T568A or T568B standard).

  3. 3

    Verify Network Switch/Hub Operation

If using a network switch between TNC and PC, verify the switch port link lights are active. Try connecting directly point-to-point between control and PC to isolate switch-related issues.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·TNC Ethernet interface hardware failure confirmed
  • ·Multiple parameter corruption indicating control system issues
  • ·Persistent alarms after all cable and configuration checks

Prevention

  • Use shielded Ethernet cables in industrial environments
  • Implement regular network cable inspection schedule
  • Maintain proper cable routing away from EMI sources
  • Document and backup LSV2 configuration parameters

Common Mistakes

  • Using unshielded Ethernet cables near high-power equipment
  • Incorrect cable shield grounding causing ground loops
  • Mixing LSV2 protocol versions between devices
  • Ignoring network switch port configuration requirements
