230-00D0

HEIDENHAIN 230-00D0 - Slave does not reach coupling position. (axis)

Slave does not reach coupling position. (axis)

During axis coupling, the slave axis ran past its own software limit switch before reaching the coupling position.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 230-00D0 occurs when a slave axis in a gantry or coupled axis configuration crosses its software limit switch while attempting to reach the coupling position. This typically happens due to incorrect axis parameters, mechanical binding, or improper coupling position setup in the TNC control.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Software Limit Parameters

Navigate to Setup > Machine Parameters and verify MP1410 (negative software limit) and MP1411 (positive software limit) for the affected slave axis. Ensure adequate travel range.

Always leave at least 5-10mm margin beyond the coupling position when setting software limits.

  2. 2

    Verify Coupling Position Parameter

Check MP4120 (coupling position) for the slave axis and ensure it falls well within the software limit range defined by MP1410 and MP1411.

Never set coupling position at or beyond software limits as this will always trigger alarm 230-00D0.

  3. 3

    Adjust Parameters if Necessary

If coupling position is outside limits, either adjust MP1410/MP1411 to expand travel range or modify MP4120 to a position within the current limits. Cycle power after changes.

Document original parameter values before making changes for easy rollback if needed.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Mechanical binding requires component replacement
  • ·Encoder hardware failure suspected
  • ·Multiple parameter changes fail to resolve issue

Prevention

  • Regular verification of software limit parameters during setup
  • Periodic mechanical inspection of gantry components
  • Maintain proper reference point procedures in daily startup

Common Mistakes

  • Setting coupling position too close to software limits
  • Ignoring mechanical binding symptoms
  • Attempting coupling without valid reference points
  • Incorrect master-slave axis assignment in parameters
