Haas 213 - PROGRAM RAM CRC ERROR | Haas CNC Alarm

PROGRAM RAM CRC ERROR

This alarm is triggered when the MOCON board detects a cyclic redundancy check error in the program RAM area during startup self-test or periodic memory verification. The control performs CRC calculations on stored program memory to ensure data integrity, and a mismatch indicates memory corruption or hardware failure. The machine will not allow program execution until the memory integrity is restored.

Common Causes

  • MOCON board RAM chip hardware failure or degradation causing intermittent read or write errors in program storage area
  • Electrostatic discharge event or voltage spike damaging memory circuits and corrupting stored program data
  • Low or fluctuating DC voltage supply to MOCON board from PSUP causing unstable memory operations and data corruption
  • Loose or oxidized ribbon cable connections between MOCON and memory modules creating intermittent communication errors
  • Extended machine age with original MOCON board experiencing memory chip wear and reduced data retention capability

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Step 1: Power down machine completely for 30 seconds then restart to allow control to reinitialize memory and recalculate CRC values
  2. 2Step 2: Access control Diagnostics page and check MOCON board status for any memory test failures or hardware error flags
  3. 3Step 3: Measure DC voltages at PSUP board outputs and verify stable 5V, 12V, and 24V supplies within specification tolerances
  4. 4Step 4: Reseat all ribbon cables and connectors on MOCON board to eliminate oxidation or intermittent connection issues
  5. 5Step 5: Delete all programs from memory, perform a parameter reset to defaults, and reload programs to clear software corruption
  6. 6Step 6: If CRC error persists after memory clear and stable power confirmed, replace MOCON board as RAM hardware has failed
