Haas Alarm 1014 - Hydraulic Error

Hydraulic

This alarm indicates the hydraulic pressure switch input to the IOCON has opened, signaling low or lost hydraulic pressure in the drawbar or toolchanger system. The machine will not allow tool changes or may fault during automatic tool change cycle because safe clamping force cannot be confirmed. Hydraulic systems on Haas machines use a pressure switch monitored at Input points on the IOCON to verify system integrity.

Root Cause Summary

Haas 1014 Hydraulic alarm triggers when the hydraulic system pressure drops below the minimum threshold or when hydraulic flow is insufficient for proper operation. This alarm is monitored by the machine's hydraulic pressure switch and will prevent spindle operation and automatic tool changes until resolved.

Safety

  • Hydraulic functions affected

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Hydraulic Reservoir Level

Open electrical cabinet and visually inspect the hydraulic tank fluid level through the sight gauge. Level should be between MIN and MAX marks.

Ensure machine is powered off and locked out before opening electrical cabinet.

  2. 2

    Add Hydraulic Fluid if Low

If below minimum, add Haas-approved hydraulic fluid (ISO 32 or equivalent) through the fill port until level reaches MAX mark.

Use only clean, filtered hydraulic fluid to prevent contamination of the system.

  3. 3

    Check for External Leaks

Inspect hydraulic lines, fittings, and tank for visible leaks that may have caused the low fluid condition.

Look for oil stains on the floor or cabinet bottom as indicators of slow leaks.

  4. 4

    Reset Alarm and Test

Power cycle the machine and verify the 1014 alarm clears. Test spindle operation and ATC function to confirm proper hydraulic pressure.

If alarm returns quickly, there may be an internal leak requiring service.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Internal hydraulic component failure
  • ·Pump motor replacement required
  • ·Persistent leakage after basic repairs
  • ·Contamination source unknown

Prevention

  • Check hydraulic fluid level monthly
  • Replace hydraulic filter annually
  • Monitor for external leaks during daily inspection
  • Use only Haas-approved hydraulic fluid

Common Mistakes

  • Using incorrect hydraulic fluid type
  • Overfilling hydraulic reservoir
  • Ignoring small leaks that lead to major failures
  • Not depressurizing system before maintenance
