Fanuc 545 - Spindle acceleration limit
Alarm 545 indicates the spindle is unable to accelerate at the commanded rate, typically due to mechanical binding, excessive load, motor/drive issues, or incorrect parameter settings. The drive detects that actual acceleration is significantly lower than commanded acceleration, triggering a protective fault. This alarm protects the spindle system from damage during abnormal acceleration conditions.

SPINDLE ACCELERATION LIMIT
Fanuc spindle alarm 545: SPINDLE ACCELERATION LIMIT. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 545 indicates the spindle is unable to accelerate at the commanded rate, typically due to mechanical binding, excessive load, motor/drive issues, or incorrect parameter settings. The drive detects that actual acceleration is significantly lower than commanded acceleration, triggering a protective fault. This alarm protects the spindle system from damage during abnormal acceleration conditions.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Check spindle taper and tool holder for crash damage, debris, or contamination. Remove tool and inspect for scoring or foreign material.
Lock out machine power before manual spindle inspection
Rotate spindle manually in HANDLE mode or by hand (power off) to check for binding, rough spots, or abnormal resistance throughout full rotation.
Disable servo power and confirm zero energy state before manual rotation
Inspect bearings for noise, heat, or roughness. Check for loss of lubrication or contamination in spindle bearing system.
Verify no workpiece, fixture, or tooling interference is present. Confirm tool changer arm fully retracted and draw bar mechanism operates freely.
