Fanuc 489 - Fssb reset error

FSSB RESET ERROR

An FSSB (Fanuc Serial Servo Bus) error has been detected related to fssb reset error. The serial bus communication between the CNC and servo amplifiers is affected.

Root Cause Summary

FSSB reset error indicates a failure in the serial servo bus communication initialization or reset sequence between the CNC controller and servo amplifiers. This typically occurs during power-up, after an emergency stop, or when the system attempts to re-establish communication with the amplifiers after a fault condition.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power down the system completely and verify all FSSB cable connections at both CNC and amplifier ends are fully seated and latched.

Always power down before disconnecting FSSB cables to prevent equipment damage

  2. 2

Inspect FSSB cables for physical damage, pinch points, sharp bends, or areas where cable may be routed near high-voltage lines or motors causing interference.

  3. 3

Check FSSB cable routing - maintain minimum 100mm separation from power cables and ensure cables are secured without excessive tension or tight bend radius.

  4. 4

If suspect, swap FSSB cable with known good cable of identical type and length. Use only genuine Fanuc FSSB cables as aftermarket cables often cause communication issues.
