Fanuc 275 - Rigid tapping data error

RIGID TAPPING DATA ERROR

Fanuc PS program alarm 275: RIGID TAPPING DATA ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 275 occurs when the rigid tapping cycle (G84 or G74) is programmed with incompatible parameters, missing required data, or when spindle/feed conditions don't match rigid tapping requirements. The control cannot execute the rigid tapping operation because the commanded parameters violate the mathematical or mechanical constraints for synchronized spindle-axis motion.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Locate the rigid tapping block (G84 or G74) in the program and identify the S (spindle speed), F (feed rate), and pitch values.

  2. 2

Calculate the correct feed rate using formula: F = S × Pitch. For example, if S=1000 RPM and pitch=1.5mm, then F must equal 1500 mm/min.

  3. 3

Verify the feed rate in the program matches the calculated value. Correct the F value if it differs.

  4. 4

Test the program in single block mode to confirm the alarm clears and tapping executes properly.

Ensure the tap is clear of the workpiece during initial testing
