Siemens 840D 61802 - Channel block: Wrong axis type
Alarm 61802 occurs when an NC program attempts to command motion on an axis that has been configured as a spindle rather than a linear or rotary axis in the machine data. This axis type mismatch between program intent and actual axis configuration causes the SINUMERIK 840D control to reject the block execution.

Channel block: Wrong axis type
Siemens SINUMERIK 840D alarm 61802: Channel block: Wrong axis type. This alarm indicates a fault condition on the specified axis or channel that requires investigation before machining can resume.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 61802 occurs when an NC program attempts to command motion on an axis that has been configured as a spindle rather than a linear or rotary axis in the machine data. This axis type mismatch between program intent and actual axis configuration causes the SINUMERIK 840D control to reject the block execution.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Access NCK Machine Data via HMI: Diagnostics > Machine > Axis > [Alarm axis name]. Verify MD20050 (AxisType) value.
If MD20050 = 3 (Spindle), change to MD20050 = 1 (Linear) or MD20050 = 2 (Rotary) depending on actual machine geometry.
Power down control and make backup of machine data before modification.
Verify related MD parameters: MD20010 (AxisName), MD20020 (Axis initialisation type), and MD20030 (Axis feedrate type) are consistent with new axis assignment.
Save machine data changes and perform warm restart (POWER RESET) for changes to take effect in NCK.
