Siemens 61603 - Block : Recess type incorrectly defined
Alarm 61603 is triggered by CYCLE93 (groove/recess cycle) when the groove geometry parameters are geometrically incompatible. The radii or chamfer dimensions at the groove base exceed or conflict with the groove width, or a face groove has been programmed parallel to the longitudinal axis where only peripheral grooves are permitted.
Siemens 61603 - Block : Recess type incorrectly defined
Block: Recess type incorrectly defined
Radii/chamfers at the groove base do not match the groove width. Face groove on a contour element running parallel to the longitudinal axis is not possible
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 61603 is triggered by CYCLE93 (groove/recess cycle) when the groove geometry parameters are geometrically incompatible. The radii or chamfer dimensions at the groove base exceed or conflict with the groove width, or a face groove has been programmed parallel to the longitudinal axis where only peripheral grooves are permitted.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Access CYCLE93 call in NC program and verify groove width parameter WG is correctly specified. Cross-reference SINUMERIK documentation VARI. 2-558 for valid range.
Check corner radius RV and chamfer CHF parameters. Ensure RV and CHF values are each less than WG/2. Recalculate based on actual tool geometry and groove geometry.
RV and CHF cannot be combined in the same groove definition; select one only.
Re-simulate cycle using Siemens ShopMill or SINUMERIK Operate simulation to verify tool path before uploading to machine.
Upload corrected NC program and execute CYCLE93 step-by-step using single-block mode (MDI or JOG) to monitor alarm resolution.
