Siemens 840D 61243 - Channel block: Correct tool change point, tool tip in

Channel block: Correct tool change point, tool tip in

The tool change point must be situated so far outside the retraction area that no tool protrudes into the retraction area on turret swivelling. Alarm triggered by following cycle: F_SP_RP

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Tool change point (TCP) position too close to or within the retraction area boundaries
  • Turret geometry parameters misconfigured or not accounting for tool overhang
  • Tool tip radius or length values incorrect in tool offset table
  • Retraction area definition (working envelope) set too large, encroaching on safe tool change zone
  • Tool holder or turret collision geometry not properly defined in machine kinematics

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the tool change point coordinates are positioned outside and beyond the maximum tool tip extension when turret is in any indexed position
  2. 2Review the retraction area parameters in the machine configuration and compare against actual turret sweep radius and maximum tool protrusion length
  3. 3Check tool offset table entries (tool length and tool radius) for accuracy; measure physical tools and update if discrepancies found
  4. 4Inspect turret indexing positions and confirm no tool tips interfere with retraction boundaries at any turret angle during F_SP_RP cycle execution
  5. 5Verify machine kinematics files and tool holder geometry definitions are current and match the physical machine configuration
