Siemens 300610 - Axis drive rotor position identification failed

Axis drive rotor position identification failed

If P1075=1 (procedure based on saturation) The rotor position could not be determined from the measurement signals (motor current), as significant saturation effects did not occur. For detailed diagnostics see also parameter P1734. If P1075=3 (procedure based on movement) 1. Power increase too small. 2. Max permissible time exceeded. 3. No clear rotor position found Control reaction: Mode group not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm. Channel not ready.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm occurs when the rotor position identification fails due to insufficient saturation effects or power increase during motor measurement. Correct the program settings or parameters to resolve.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

SAFETY: Ensure motor is stopped and locked out

Before parameter changes, verify motor is stopped, locked out/tagged out, and axis is mechanically secured to prevent unexpected movement.

  2. 2

    Check parameter P1075

Verify the setting of P1075 (1 for saturation, 3 for movement) and ensure it matches the motor type.

  3. 3

    Review P1734 diagnostics

Check parameter P1734 for detailed error data on why identification failed.

  4. 4

    Adjust and retry

Modify parameters as needed, clear the alarm, and restart the identification process with proper safety precautions.

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·If parameter adjustments do not resolve the issue
  • ·If P1734 indicates encoder or hardware faults
  • ·If you are not trained in Siemens drive parameter modification
  • ·If motor movement occurs unexpectedly during troubleshooting

Prevention

  • Validate motor parameters before running identification
  • Perform regular encoder cable inspections
  • Ensure proper grounding and shielding of encoder cables
  • Follow proper commissioning procedures for new motors

Common Mistakes

  • Overlooking P1734 diagnostic data
  • Failing to match P1075 setting to motor type
