Access NCK Machine Data via HMI menu: Maintenance > Machine Data > Category filter 'PROFIsafe' or search MD numbers in range 16500-16599 and 20060-20069.

Document all F module addresses currently assigned. Create a spreadsheet listing each F module instance with its corresponding PROFIsafe address parameter value to identify duplicates.

Do not modify data yet; first identify the conflicting entries.

For each duplicate, reassign a unique PROFIsafe address value (typically 0-65535 range, depending on your network topology). Ensure sequential or non-overlapping assignment across all F modules in the system.

Coordinate address changes with your PROFIsafe network documentation to avoid conflicts with other devices.

Save machine data, perform a warm restart (POWER OFF > 10 seconds > POWER ON) of the SINUMERIK 840D control, and verify alarm 27224 is cleared from the alarm list.

Open the S7 safety program in STEP 7 (TIA Portal or Classic) and navigate to the F parameter assignment blocks. Check all FB instances assigned for PROFIsafe communication (typically FB 283, FB 284, or manufacturer-specific safety FBs).

Review each F module instance's device ID and parameterized address fields. Cross-reference with the NCK MD printout obtained from step 1 of the previous cause block to identify overlapping values.

If using TIA Portal, use the consistency check tool (Tools > Check Project) to automatically flag parameter conflicts.

Modify conflicting S7 F parameter addresses to ensure uniqueness across all F module instances. Document the mapping of S7 F module ID to PROFIsafe address in your system configuration file.

Compile and load the S7 program to the control. Perform a warm restart and verify alarm 27224 clears and PROFIsafe communication is established in the diagnostics menu.

Generate a cross-reference report: list all F modules visible in NCK MD (via HMI Maintenance > Machine Data export) and all F modules in the S7 program. Match them by physical location (slot, terminal, channel).

For each F module physically present, verify that the PROFIsafe address in NCK MD (MD 20060-20069 range or equivalent) exactly matches the address parameter in the corresponding S7 FB instance.

Address values must be identical; even a single-digit discrepancy will trigger alarm 27224.

If a mismatch is found, align the S7 parameter to match the NCK MD value (or vice versa, following your system documentation). Recompile the S7 program and update the control's system data if required.

Restart the control, check the alarm log to confirm alarm 27224 is no longer active, and verify PROFIsafe master-slave heartbeat in the diagnostics (Diagnostics > PROFIsafe Status or equivalent menu path).
