Root Cause Summary

Alarm 26102 indicates the NCK has lost cyclic communication with the specified axis drive module—the sign-of-life telegram is no longer being refreshed within the expected cycle time. This is a critical servo/spindle communication fault that prevents axis motion and requires immediate hardware or parameter verification.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power down the machine and inspect all DRIVE-CLiQ connectors (M23 or M12) on axis %2. Check for corrosion, bent pins, and secure seating.

Verify machine is de-energized before contact inspection.

  2. 2

In Siemens HMI Diagnostics menu, navigate to [Drives] > [Drive Status] and confirm drive %2 appears with valid status bit. If 'Not Present' is shown, reseat all connectors and reboot.

  3. 3

If intermittent, replace the DRIVE-CLiQ cable. Log serial number of affected drive and test with a known-good cable to isolate the fault.
