Siemens 22000 - Block Spindle Gear stage change in not possible

Block Spindle Gear stage change in not possible

A gear stage change for the spindle will not be possible, if: - thread cutting (G33, G34, G35) is active - the spindle is active as master or slave spindle in a coupling - the spindle is being positioned Control reaction: Interpreter stop NC Start disable in this channel. NC Stop on alarm. Interface signals are set. Alarm display.

Root Cause Summary

ALARM 22000 triggers when a gear stage change is commanded on a SINUMERIK 840D spindle while thread cutting (G33/G34/G35), spindle coupling (master/slave synchronization), or spindle positioning is active. The NCK blocks gear stage transitions until these conflicting spindle states are cleared to prevent loss of synchronization or thread pitch integrity.

Safety

  • Spindle hazard: ensure the spindle is at standstill before working near it; follow lockout/tagout procedures.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review NC program logic: confirm G33/G34/G35 is complete before issuing GEAR or M163/M164 (gear change commands). Check MD34020 'SpindleGearChangeTime' to ensure adequate dwell after threading blocks.

Do NOT issue GEAR command while G33/G34/G35 is active in the current or lookahead blocks.

  2. 2

Monitor Diagnostics > NCK > Spindle Actual Values to verify spindle speed has stabilized post-threading (check S-parameter request vs. actual speed match within MD32090 'SpindleSpeedTolerance' window).

  3. 3

Insert explicit G00 or G01 dwell (G04 P500) after threading block to allow NCK to deactivate thread-coupling mode before GEAR command execution.
